Designed by celebrated architecture firm, Gensler and the interior by G.A, the design rationale is a compelling vision of elegant island living, inviting guests on a sojourn of luxury and mystery. The architectural ethos focuses on the concept of discovery – the resort arcades bear fine examples of Moorish archways and motifs. Elements of historical influences, as exemplified in the lobby, combine colonial-style touches tweaked with classic contemporary subtleties. Traditional architectural details and textured materiality are also evident within this enchanting resort.
Hallways with filtered light and shade lead to terraces spread with breathtaking vistas of stunning landscape architecture designed and curated by world renowned resort designer, Bill Bensley. The design maestro also conceived the experiential concept behind Kayuputi specialty restaurant. Prolific with tropical greenery, the hotel grounds transformed from a wild, unruly landscape into a wonderful environs of centuries-old rainforest flora and fauna edged by the sparkling Andaman Sea. Along the driveway of The St. Regis Langkawi, anmorderly rows of date palms and suspended pots of overhanging ferns complement the intricate hibiscus and batik motifs on the driveway ceiling.
